De tekenen van het hart

Alle lof zij Allaah, wij smeken om Zijn hulp en Zijn vergeving. Bij Allaah zoeken wij onze toevlucht tegen het kwade van onze ziel en onze slechte daden. Wie door Allaah geleid wordt, kan niet op een dwaalspoor gebracht worden en wie door Allaah op een dwaalspoor gebracht wordt, kan door niemand geleid worden. Ik getuig dat geen godheid het waard is om aanbeden te worden behalve Allaah, De Enige die geen deelgenoten heeft, en dat Mohammed Zijn dienaar en Boodschapper is.
Een zuiver hart
Men moet als doel hebben om het hart te reinigen, aangezien het de sleutel is tot het correcte gedrag in dit leven en het winnen van het genoegen van Allah en het Paradijs in het volgende leven. Er zijn tekenen die je kunt waarnemen in jezelf, waarmee je kunt bepalen of je hart schoon (zuiver) en gezond is of niet. Vele van deze tekenen laten zien dat de schone (zuivere) en gezonde hart niet neigt naar deze wereld, maar dat het gehecht is aan Allah en het Hiernamaals.
Deze tekenen zijn besproken door ibn al-Qayyim en bevatten de volgende:
1. De persoon beschouwt zichzelf als behorende tot de volgende wereld en niet deze wereld. Hij is een vreemdeling op deze wereld en kan niet wachten om zijn woonplaats in het Hiernamaals te bereiken.
2. De persoon is verontrust (overstuur) wanneer, en iedere keer, dat hij een zonde begaat totdat hij volledig berouw heeft getoond tegenover Allah.
3. Als de persoon zijn dagelijkse Quran recitatie of Dhikr (het gedenken van Allah) mist, dan is diegene meer verontrust en ongelukkig dan wanneer hij rijkdom (geld e.d.) verliest.
4. De individu heeft een plezier in het aanbidden van Allah, dat veel groter is dan elke plezier die hij vindt in het eten of drinken.
5. Wanneer de persoon begint te bidden, dan verlaten zijn zorgen van deze wereld hem.
6. Zijn enige zorgen betreffen Allah en het handelen omwille van Allah.
7. Hij is bezorgder om het verspillen van tijd en gieriger als het gaat om het verspillen van tijd, dan een gierige persoon is met betrekking tot zijn rijkdom. Tijd is een sleutel element dat iedereen moet gebruiken voor het aanbidden van Allah. Allah zegent vaak mensen met vrije tijd en toch hebben ze geen idee hoe ze dit moeten gebruiken, dus verspillen ze het.
8. De persoon is bezorgder om de correctheid van zijn daad, dan hij is om de uitvoering van de daad zelf. Tegelijkertijd zijn er vele tekenen dat de hart van een persoon onzuiver (vies) of ziek is. Het is belangrijk om deze tekenen te zien en het hart te genezen. Veel mensen zijn bezorgd om de fysieke gezondheid van het hart. Als hun bloeddruk stijgt, zullen ze direct op zoek gaan naar hulp. Maar, de belangrijkere aspect is niet de fysieke gezondheid van het hart, maar de spirituele gezondheid van het hart. Dit betekent niet, dat men de fysieke gezondheid van het hart moet verwaarlozen. Het betekent echter wel, dat als men alleen bezig is met het verzorgen van de fysieke gezondheid van het hart, dat diegene de belangrijkere element verwaarloost, de element die nog belangrijker is voor zijn gezondheid in dit leven en het Hiernamaals.
Een ziekte in het hart
Ibn al-Qayyim heeft ook de tekenen die aangeven dat er een ziekte is in het hart besproken.
Deze tekenen bevatten het volgende:
1. Deze persoon voelt geen pijn wanneer hij slechte daden (zonden) begaat.
2. De individu vindt plezier in het verrichten van daden van ongehoorzaamheid aan Allah en rust na het uitoefenen van deze daden.
3. De persoon let op de minder belangrijke zaken en maakt zich geen zorgen (het kan diegene niets schelen) om de belangrijkere zaken. Als een hart gezond is, dan zal het kijken naar het belang van de persoon en wat het beste voor diegene is. Wanneer belangrijke zaken het hart niks kunnen schelen, dan is dit een duidelijk teken dat het niet alleen ziek is, maar waarschijnlijk dood.
4. De persoon houdt niet van de waarheid en heeft moeite met het te accepteren en zich er aan te onderwerpen.
5. Deze persoon vindt geen rust (gemak) in het gezelschap van rechtschapen mensen, maar vindt veel troost en vrede bij slechte mensen en zondaars.
6. De persoon kan makkelijk worden beïnvloed met betrekking tot misvattingen en twijfel. Hij voelt zich aangetrokken tot discussies, debatten en argumenten die omgeven zijn door zulke misvattingen, in plaats van het lezen van de Quran en andere daden die voordeel zullen hebben. (Dit kan tegenwoordig ook gezien worden onder moslims, vooral op internet.)
7. De persoon wordt niet geroerd (dus het heeft geen effect op hem) door welke vorm van vermaning ook. Sommige mensen, kunnen bijvoorbeeld luisteren naar de Vrijdagpreken – zelfs uitstekend – terwijl dit helemaal geen effect op hen heeft. Dit is nog een teken, dat het hart ziek is of misschien zelfs dood.
